Alerts are email notifications that can be setup for proactive alerting based on pre-determined criteria. For example, you can setup an alert to notify you when a company has a 10-point drop in their most recent financial health rating. You can also setup and alert based on a counterparty entering the High Risk category. In addition to rating alerts, you can also setup alerts based on company news, including General News, Disasters, or Mergers and Acquisitions.
Here are the step-by-step instructions to set up Ratings Changes & News Alerts for yourself.
- Log in to your Rapid Ratings account at https://www.rapidratings.com/login.php.
- Click 'Program Management' at the top, and then navigate to ‘Manage FHR Alerts' or 'Manage News Alerts'
-
Click on 'Create Alert' in the upper right hand corner on the resulting page
-
For FHR Alerts, the below screen comes up, asking you to fill in an Alert Name that will be the subject of the emails sent to you, select a group of companies to run the alert on (portfolio) and content type (text or table). It also asks you to select a run frequency (do you want daily, weekly or monthly emails?), and the next run date (the first time you want the alerts sent). If you select the "Optional" button, you get a further drop down menu to select the changes in FHR that will trigger your alerts.
-
For News Alerts, you'll be similarly asked to select Name, Portfolio and time to receive. You have the option of choosing what types of News Alerts you'd like to receive.
-
General Portfolio News – This alert is best used to receive all news for small groups of companies, it is not ideal for large portfolios
-
Disasters – This alert covers industrial, environmental and natural disasters, as well as transportation accidents, etc.
-
Bankruptcy – This alert looks for news stories featuring the key words: “Insolvency”, “Default”, “Chapter 11”, “Chapter 13”, etc.
-
Mergers – This alert includes news on Mergers, Acquisitions, Leveraged Buyouts, Spin-Offs, Divestitures, Tender Offers, etc.
-
Select “Active” if you wish the report to be initialized, and inactive if at any point you wish to cease receiving this report. Once you have finalized your selections, click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the screen
