Government stimulus from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, such as the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), is considered a temporary fix. Such assistance may forestall problems for these companies for 2-3 months, but does not change their futures.
The question remains, “what happens after the couple of months of payroll support and whether there will be additional stimulus packages down the road?”. This could vary wildly depending on the length of the pandemic, a subsequent outbreak, the November elections and political sentiment towards more support or bailout. Today's perspective only provides PPP for short term bridging for these companies and will unlikely materially affect their financial health.
